How NOSSA Helped a High-Growth BPO Close Critical Senior Roles

At a Glance

When a high-growth company hit a wall on its most critical leadership hires, senior roles across operations, general management, and revenue drawn from a pool too thin to brute-force, it brought in NOSSA. The result: a stalled internal search closed, two senior leaders placed from a narrow market, and the bar held on every hire.

  • Industry: BPO

  • Roles: Executive Assistant, Country Manager, VP of Operational Transformation

  • Markets: South Africa

  • Engagement: Direct Placement → Embedded Recruiting

  • First shortlist:48 hours

  • Partnership: Expanded into ongoing RPO support

The Client

The Client is a high-growth BPO/CX company scaling across customer experience, operations, general management, and revenue.

Its internal team was already managing recruitment, but some searches required more specialist market knowledge and dedicated capacity. The most difficult roles were senior positions with specific experience requirements and a limited pool of qualified candidates.

That included an Executive Assistant search the internal team had been unable to close, alongside senior South Africa-based searches for a Country Manager and VP of Operational Transformation.

The Challenge

The problem wasn't a lack of candidates. It was finding the right candidates in markets where the qualified pool was small.

Three things made the searches particularly difficult:

  • A narrow talent pool

The Country Manager and VP of Operational Transformation roles were senior South Africa-based positions with a limited number of candidates who matched the required experience.

  • A search that had already stalled

The Executive Assistant role had already been worked internally without a successful hire. The client needed a different approach rather than simply more candidate volume.

  • High hiring stakes

These were important roles where the client needed confidence in both capability and fit. Moving quickly mattered, but not at the expense of the hiring bar.

The client needed a partner that could understand the role beyond the job description, access the right market, and stay involved through the close.

The Solution: Depth-First Search

NOSSA started by understanding the role in detail before approaching the market.

The team worked with hiring managers to clarify the actual mandate: what the person needed to deliver, what experience mattered most, where flexibility existed, and what would make someone a genuine fit.

That shaped the search in three ways.

  • Precision over volume: Rather than build a large candidate funnel, NOSSA mapped the market around the client's actual requirements and approached candidates who matched the mandate. The aim was a shortlist the hiring manager could act on, not a larger list that created more work for the internal team.

  • Local market knowledge: The senior searches required knowledge of the South African talent market and the ability to identify relevant candidates within a relatively small pool. NOSSA used that market understanding to target candidates with the right operational and BPO experience rather than relying solely on inbound applicants or broad outreach.

  • Ownership from search to offer: The team managed the recruitment process beyond sourcing and shortlisting, including candidate communication, assessment coordination, offer management, and sensitive situations that could affect the outcome. In one case, a candidate challenged an offer that was within the client's advertised range but below their expectations. NOSSA handled the issue directly, explaining the client's remuneration structure while managing the candidate relationship and internal escalation.

This meant the client didn't have to take over every difficult point in the process.

The Result

NOSSA closed the search the Client's internal team had been unable to fill and went on to place a Country Manager and VP of Operational Transformation from the narrow South Africa-based talent pool.

The work also extended beyond the featured senior searches. NOSSA subsequently supported CX, sales, and operational hiring, including high-volume CX recruitment. On a later CX hiring drive, NOSSA secured at least 80% of the hires while competing against three other recruiting companies.

From Individual Search to Embedded Partnership

The relationship did not end when the difficult roles were filled.

It evolved from a single CX recruitment drive in November 2025, to the Executive Assistant search, then into a formal embedded RPO partnership in March 2026. NOSSA subsequently supported a broader range of critical hiring needs across CX, sales, operations, and leadership.

Under the embedded model, NOSSA works inside the client's existing hiring process rather than operating as a separate candidate-sourcing function. The team works with the client's tools and workflows, manages candidate communications and assessments, and provides enough process ownership for hiring managers to hand over a role without repeatedly re-explaining the requirements.

For the Client, the value wasn't simply that NOSSA filled difficult roles. It was that the same recruiting partner could support both specialist searches and ongoing hiring capacity as needs changed.

In the Client's Words

It’s easy to work with NOSSA because they always try to get to the bottom of the issue and find people who genuinely fit the role.

Conclusion

What started with a difficult search became a broader recruiting partnership.

NOSSA helped close a role the client's internal team had struggled with, then supported additional senior, operational, sales, and CX hiring as the client's needs grew.

The engagement demonstrated the value of a focused recruitment partner that can understand a role deeply, work within the client's process, and take ownership of the search when internal capacity or specialist market knowledge isn't enough.

Facing a difficult hire or a growing recruitment workload? NOSSA supports high-growth companies with specialist recruitment and embedded recruiting, from individual critical hires to ongoing hiring capacity.
